Art Toronto 2018 Exhibitor List Includes Nine New Galleries

Nine new galleries will be part of the 102 exhibitors from 7 countries and 28 cities at Art Toronto 2018.

TORONTO, CANADA-Art Toronto, Canada’s international contemporary and modern art fair has announced the list of galleries participating in this year’s event. In its 19th edition, this year features 102 exhibitors from 7 countries and 28 cities. In addition to the regular galleries, several new galleries will participate in Art Toronto 2018. They include Chimento Contemporary (Los Angeles), DNA Gallery(London), Golestani (Dusseldorf), Hosfelt Gallery (San Francisco), and Casemore Kirkeby (San Francisco). Others include Axel Pairon Gallery (Knokke), Project Gallery (Toronto), Projet Pangée(Montreal), and Vivianeart (Calgary).

Canada’s international fair for modern and contemporary art will be held October 26-29, 2018 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The fair begins October 25 with Opening Night, a benefit gala for the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).

Art Toronto Fair

Art Toronto is Canada’s international contemporary and modern art fair. it was founded in 2000.  For almost two decades, the art fair has been presenting important artwork from leading Canadian and international galleries combined with Platform.

In addition to providing unique access to the Canadian art market, the fair is also one of the most important annual art events in Canada. Art Toronto 2018 will also include engaging series of lectures and panel discussions from prominent art world figures. Additionally, curated projects, an extensive VIP Program, and top-tier cultural offerings will be staged throughout the city of Toronto, Canada’s cultural capital.

Main Exhibitions

Art Toronto 2018 has the following sections: Main, Solo, Verge, Focus, and Arts & Cultural Institutions. Main is for Premier modern and contemporary galleries from Canada, the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Israel, and Belgium. Solo is for Galleries representing a highly-curated body of work by a single artist.  Verge has galleries that have been in business for eight years or less. They will present works by young and emerging artists made in the past five years.

Focus-Art Toronto

Focus expands upon 2017’s Focus on Los Angeles, which featured mainly galleries from Los Angeles. This  Art Toronto focuses on California. Kim Nguyen (Curator and Head of Programs at the CCA Wattis Institute, San Francisco) and Glen Helfand (Associate Professor at California College of the Arts, San Francisco, independent writer and curator based in Oakland, California) will curate the interactive exhibit featuring galleries from California.
