The new Deputy Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Philip Baca, has the responsibility of advancing Hispanic culture, arts, and humanities.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) has announced the appointment of Philip Baca as its Deputy Director. This appointment marks a significant milestone for the NHCC, as Baca brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. Many already see him as a valuable addition to the leadership team.

Philip Baca has been an integral part of the NHCC’s leadership team since joining last year. NHCC Executive Director Zack Quintero praised Baca, describing him as a great asset. “Philip has been a tremendous asset to the Center’s leadership team since he joined us last year, and we all appreciate his diligence and attention to detail.”

Baca expressed his excitement and honor about his selection as the Deputy Director.  “It is an honor to be chosen as the deputy director and to work alongside such a talented team. I look forward to working with them to advance Hispanic culture in our community, the state of New Mexico, and throughout the nation,” he said.

A Lifelong New Mexican: About Philip Andrew Baca

Philip Andrew Baca is a lifelong New Mexican, born and raised in Santa Rosa. He attended New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI), where he graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Business. He later transferred to New Mexico State University (NMSU), earning Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Agricultural Economics.

During his time at NMSU, Baca was a Research Specialist with the Range Improvement Task Force. His focus was on finance options for the New Mexico Livestock Board. Afterward, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Livestock Board. He later returned to NMMI as an Associate Professor of Business and the Associate Dean of Social Sciences.

Baca joined NHCC as Finance Manager in May 2023. His responsibility was overseeing a team responsible for handling invoices in support of the Center’s programming. In his new role as Deputy Director, Baca will oversee financial needs, infrastructure requests, and more. He will work closely with the Center’s leadership team.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing Hispanic culture, arts, and humanities. The NHCC hosts mission-related events throughout the year, both produced by its programs and in partnership with external organizations.
