BASEL, SWITZERLAND- When Art Basel 2015 opens Thursday, one of the galleries that will be presenting works by emerging and established artists is the Gagosian Gallery.   Located at Art Basel Hall 2, Booth B11 Messe Basel Messeplatz, Gagosian Gallery will feature works by Jeff Koons, John Currin, and several other established artists.

One of the works expected to generate attention at the Gagosian Gallery booth is a sculpture by  Koons. Titled Cat on a Clothesline (Orange), 1994-2001, the sculpture made of polyethylene is 123 × 110 × 50 inches (312.4 × 279.4 × 127 cm), and 1 of 5 unique versions. The sculpture has the image of a gray and white cat peeping out of an orange bag hanging on a clothesline. Holding the bag to the clothesline is a blue and yellow peg. Beside the pegs are two flowers: Yellow and pink.

This sculpture which exemplifies Koons classic sculptures is funny and poignant at the same time. While the piece shows the playfulness of a child, it exposes the opulence that has come to be associated with likes of Paris Hilton and many other rick kids who have devised different ways of papering their pets.
