NEW YORK, NY- On November 13, 2024, the International Center of Photography (ICP) will honor renowned photographer Kathy Ryan during its twelfth annual Spotlights Luncheon. The event will take place at the stunning Hall des Lumières in New York City. This celebration not only recognizes Ryan’s significant contributions to photography but also coincides with ICP’s 50th Anniversary.
Kathy Ryan is a visionary in photography. She has served as the Director of Photography at The New York Times Magazine for an impressive 37 years. She has masterfully combined fine art photography with photojournalism, influencing the visual landscape of modern media. Her keen eye for powerful imagery has inspired countless photographers and storytellers worldwide.
The Spotlights Luncheon event for Kathy Ryan is a continuation of ICP’s celebration of women’s contributions. It is a key event in ICP’s calendar, focusing on women in photography and visual arts. This year’s theme, “Concerned Photography,” highlights the role of images in addressing social and political issues. ICP CEO Bob Jeffrey stated, “Kathy completely embodies our mission of championing concerned photography and recognizing the important stories that photographers tell through their work.”
This annual benefit honors significant contributions to photography and also raises essential funds for ICP’s exhibitions and educational programs. Proceeds from the luncheon are vital for advancing ICP’s mission and enhancing public understanding of contemporary visual culture.
Guests at the Spotlights Luncheon can expect a lively event featuring a cocktail reception and a seated lunch. A key highlight will be an intimate discussion between Kathy Ryan and a soon-to-be-announced moderator, offering insights into her artistic journey and views on the evolving world of photography.
The luncheon will gather distinguished figures from photography, art, and media to celebrate Ryan’s achievements and ICP’s ongoing dedication to visual arts.
