In an un-timed event, participants in the race who are also known as Color Runners are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer of the race. In a plume of colors accentuated by uplifting music, Color Runners navigate a course amidst ecstatic cheering spectators. The organizers describe the euphoria surrounding the event in interesting ways. The race, they note  ‘creates a 5K environment where anything is possible, unicorns are real and foam clouds make everything better with unforgettable music, color throws and an all-new Foam Zone and Dream Wall.’

Founded in 2011, the main objective of the race is to ‘bring people together and make the world a happier, healthier place.’  The Color Run 5K event presents participants with the opportunity to live an active healthy lifestyle and make unforgettable memories.  Making memories and communality, according to the organizers, is greater than ‘than your mile per minute.’

Although running the race is thrilling, the fun, however, continues after the run. The after-party, also known, as the Finish Festival takes the fun-filled event to a crescendo. There is music dancing and massive color throws that create millions of vivid color combinations.

Baltimore is just one of the venues for The Color Run. The race is held every year across the United States and countries across the globe.  Described as “The Happiest 5K on the Planet”, the race continues to grow every year.  More than 6 million Color Runners have participated worldwide. In six years, the race has become a leader in the fun running space.
