Bonhams, a global leader in the auction industry, has announced the appointment of Suzy Sikorski as the Business Development Director for the Middle East. This move will significantly strengthen the presence of Bonhams in the Middle East region. This appointment underscores the company’s commitment to the burgeoning art and luxury markets of the Gulf, marking a decisive step in building a more localized and knowledgeable presence.
With over ten years of hands-on experience, Suzy Sikorski has emerged as a leading expert in Middle Eastern art. Before joining Bonhams, she played a pivotal role at Christie’s, orchestrating Middle Eastern art auctions and developing private sales initiatives. Her deep understanding of the region makes her a perfect fit to lead the expansion of Bonhams Middle East.
In her new role, Suzy will be based between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Her primary focus will be to expand the client base for Bonhams Middle East and foster meaningful partnerships. She will also enhance the sourcing of high-quality consignments in art, jewelry, watches, classic cars, and other luxury sectors.
The decision to invest in a dedicated Business Development Director for the region reflects Bonhams’ recognition of the rapidly evolving Middle Eastern art market. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations are home to an expanding demographic of young, affluent, and culturally engaged collectors. The appointment of Suzy Sikorski is a clear signal of the long-term strategic vision for the auction house in the Middle East.
In a statement upon joining, Suzy expressed her commitment. “I am deeply committed to supporting the growth of future collections and fostering new generations of collectors in the region. I look forward to building on the global network of the auction house in the Middle East.” She expressed her commitment to contribute to the region’s dynamic growth.
Under the leadership of Chabi Nouri, CEO of Bonhams, the auction house continues to prioritize regional expertise. Chabi stated, “We are delighted to welcome Suzy Sikorski. The appointment strengthens our commitment in the Middle East.” He added that, “we look forward to creating enriching experiences to further anchor the presence of Bonhams in the region.”
The appointment of Suzy Sikorski marks a transformative era for the auction house in the Middle East. As more international institutions turn their attention to the Middle East, Bonhams has distinguished itself by committing to a long-term, on-the-ground presence.
With key developments in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the expansion of cultural infrastructure in the UAE, the timing of Bonhams’ investment in the region could not be more opportune. Suzy’s deep regional ties, combined with Bonhams’ international reach, create a powerful synergy. This collaboration will enhance the company’s footprint and elevate the standard of art engagement across borders.
