BERLIN, GERMANY —The PERSPEKTIVE Fund has announced the winners of the 2024 Ideas Competition for Architecture, themed Dream Kitchen. This year’s competition challenged participants to conceptualize kitchens that address contemporary societal issues, particularly in the context of urban housing shortages, rising food costs due to inflation, and resource restrictions impacting millions.

The competition welcomed a wide array of interpretations. Whether large or small, indoor or outdoor, communal or individual, the designs could utilize traditional energy sources or explore innovative cooking methods. Participants were encouraged to think outside the box, with creativity being the only limit.

A total of 89 applications were received from Germany and France. The entrants showcased diverse backgrounds, bringing a rich variety of ideas to the table.

The Franco-German jury comprised prominent figures in architecture and design: Sophie Delhay: Architect and director of the architecture section at EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland. Lauriane Gricourt: Director of Museum Les Abattoirs, Toulouse, Jan Liesegang: Co-founder of raumlabor Berlin and professor at Bergen Architecture School, Norway, MITKUNSTZENTRALE: A collective of architects, designers, and artists—Martina della Valle, Erik Göngrich, Susanne Schröder, and Nora Wilhelm—who run the Berlin-based art space SATELLIT.

 Prize Distribution

This year, the jury decided to allocate the €10,000 prize fund equally among the top three projects, with each winner receiving €3,333.33. This decision underscores the high quality and originality of the submissions.
