SAN FRANCISCO-Ubisoft has officially announced Operation Twin Shells, the eagerly anticipated third season of Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 9. This season is set to bring a multitude of new features, including the introduction of the Greek Operator Skopós, the Siege Cup beta, and significant gameplay updates, including robust anti-cheat measures. Below are details on these exciting additions and improvements.

Operation Twin Shells features the debut of Skopós, a new Defender hailing from Greece. Skopós is equipped with the innovative V10 Pantheon Shells gadget, which includes two remotely operated robots named Talos and Colossus. These robots provide Skopós with unparalleled versatility on the battlefield, allowing her to provide both offensive and defensive support.

While Skopós can only control one shell at a time, Talos and Colossus serve distinct roles—one acts as an Operator while the other functions as an Observation Tool. This dual-functionality makes Skopós highly effective in gathering intelligence and providing tactical support. Skopós is classified as a two-speed, two-health operator, balancing agility with resilience. Her primary weapon is the new PCX-33 assault rifle.  Complementing it is the P229, her secondary weapon.

Siege Cup Beta: A New Competitive Frontier

Year 9 Season 3 introduces the Siege Cup beta, a new competitive playlist designed to elevate the Rainbow Six Siege experience. The Siege Cup is a skill-based ladder tournament where 5-player squads compete for rewards every two weeks. This addition promises to intensify competitive gameplay, offering players the chance to showcase their skills and earn exclusive rewards.

The beta version of Siege Cup will be available exclusively on PC in Western Europe and North America. It aims to test server performance and ensure a fair competitive environment before its official launch. Players interested in participating can register on the Ubisoft website for an opportunity to be among the first to experience and provide feedback on this new feature.

Enhanced Anti-Cheat Measures

Maintaining fair play is a top priority for Rainbow Six Siege, and Operation Twin Shells delivers significant improvements in this area. The Anti-Cheat Development Team has introduced several new security updates, including binary hardening and expanded QB System functionalities. These measures are designed to disrupt cheat development and usage, making it increasingly difficult for new cheats to be introduced.

The ongoing investment in anti-cheat technology reflects Ubisoft’s commitment to ensuring a fair gaming experience. In addition, there will be regular updates and enhancements to continuously improve security and protect the integrity of gameplay.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Twin Shells Gameplay Updates

Operation Twin Shells also brings crucial updates to the game’s balance and mechanics. The second part of Solis’ balancing update introduces changes to the SPEC-IO Electro-Sensor. The sensor now detects electronic devices only within its central view and replaces the scan function with the Overclock feature. This new functionality has limited usage, is impossible to deactivate, and alerts nearby enemy Observation Tools to Solis’ presence.

Additionally, adjustments have been made to Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb and Nøkk’s Hel Presence Reduction gadgets based on player feedback. These changes aim to refine gameplay and ensure that each operator’s abilities are both effective and balanced.

To support new and returning players, Rainbow Six Siege introduces Versus AI 2.0. This update allows players to practice defending bomb sites against a team of trained AI Operators, offering a comprehensive training experience. This new feature builds on the Year 8 Season 4 AI updates, providing a challenging environment for players to hone their skills before engaging in competitive play.

Improvements to Rainbow Six Siege Operation Twin Shells

Operation Twin Shells includes several quality-of-life improvements designed to enhance player experience. The full redesign of the After Action Report 2.0 offers a clearer overview of the most valuable and relevant post-match information. Additionally, drones will benefit from a boost mechanic, which increases navigation speed and enhances the ability to gather intelligence.

Rainbow Six Siege is available across multiple platforms, including Ubisoft+, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the Xbox One family of consoles, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC, including Steam and Amazon Luna. Ubisoft+ subscribers can access the game as part of their subscription service, which offers a comprehensive catalog of Ubisoft titles.
