Palm Beach, FL – A beautiful Black & White Diamond Protective Face Mask is one of the major highlights at this year’s Palm Beach Show in Florida. Designed by Isaac Levy, founder, and owner of Yvel, the mask is made of 250 grams of pure 18k gold. It is set with 3,608 natural black and white diamonds with a total weight of about 210 carats.
With a value of $1.5 million, this is the most expensive mask in the world. Despite the gems, the mask was designed to be wearable. It features a slot to insert a disposable N-99 mask, which provides protection from Covid-19.
The story behind the creation of the most expensive COVID-19 face mask is intriguing and has a root in the spread of the coronavirus. As the COVID-19 pandemic spread globally in spring 2020, people lost their jobs as companies started closing their doors. Like many other company owners, Levy was worried about his employees and the future of his company.
To save his company and retain his employees, Levy devised a simple strategy of asking his friends and customers for help. He flew to the U.S. to meet with long-term customers and friends to find out if they would place orders so he could keep his production center open and employees working. It was an insightful idea.
One of those who offered to help was a Los Angeles businessman, a keen art collector, and Yvel customer for many years. He commissioned the beautiful Black & White Diamond Protective Face Mask to help support the Israeli industry as well as Yvel’s 150 employees in Israel and the United States as the pandemic raged on.
Creating the Black & White Diamond Protective Face Mask was an intensive production process. Levy and his team had to consider how to create a functional work of art that is both beautiful and serves as a face mask. He knew the mask must comply with safety regulations and beautiful.
To meet the high standard of creating exceptional jewelry that Yvel is known for, Levy entrusted the creation of the face mask to 25 of the company’s top artisans and diamond setters. These top artisans brought their skills to bear in carrying out the extraordinary assignment. The result is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Isaac Levy, owner and co-founder of Yvel recalls the experience of creating the one-of-a-kind face mask:
“When we were first challenged to create a mask of this magnitude, we were energized by the opportunity and our team came together to create something truly unique and special, and yet – functional. Unlike any project we have done before, this order involved not only beautiful jewels but also a protective element.”
Levy can’t wait to officially present the anonymous Los Angeles businessman with his mask soon.
The commission from the Los Angeles businessman, customers, and close friends continues to keep Yvel solvent. For that he is grateful.
“We cannot thank the buyer enough for his support over the last decades and especially now during the pandemic,” said Levy, adding that “In these tumultuous times, every order we receive helps to preserve the company’s day-to-day operations and provide a way of living to its employees.”
