BALTIMORE, MARYLAND— What is the Trump Administration doing to America? This is the question David Cay Johnston will be answering when he is a guest at the Enoch Pratt Free Library as part of the Writers LIVE Programs. During his visit, David will be discussing his book It’s Even Worse Than You Think: What the Trump Administration is Doing to America. Scheduled for January 23, at the Central Library in downtown Baltimore, David Cay Johnston will also be talking about journalism in the Trump era, and politics.
David’s Writers LIVE discussion is expected to be explosive not just because his book is focused on President Trump, but also because he knows the current president very well. He first met Donald Trump in 1988 and has tracked him ever since, with a particular focus on how he became wealthy. In addition to It’s Even Worse Than You Think: What the Trump Administration is Doing to America, David Cay Johnston has also written other books about Donald Trump. They include Temples of Chance and The Making of Donald Trump. He was also an uncredited source of documents and insight for major campaign reports by the Washington Post, New York Times, and network television.
A political and financial commentator on MSNBC and other cable networks, David has pointedly addressed some of what he considers the iniquities of Donald Trump. For example, last year when two pages from the President’s tax miraculously surfaced, David Cay Johnston was on The Rachel Maddow Show to give a deep analysis of the two pages. A dedicated journalist, David is intuitive and very perceptive. When Trump announced his campaign in June 2015, David was the first national journalist to write about a potential Trump presidency.
It’s Even Worse Than You Think: What the Trump Administration is Doing to America is a continuation of David Cay Johnston’s keen and deep examination of Donald Trump as a person and his administration as a whole. In the book, David assesses the first one hundred days of Donald Trump’s presidency, including a close look at what the mainstream press stopped covering years ago. He also scrutinizes the workings of the federal government agencies and how that touches the lives of all Americans. There is a section in the book that provides profound insight into how our lives are affected by many actions that the new administration quietly approves without drawing the attention of the Washington press corps.
