BALTIMORE, MD- Seth MacFarlane, the Family Guy funny man, and Grammy-nominated artist is bringing his smooth singing talents and irreverent humor to Baltimore’s Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on July 16, 2015. In an event titled An Evening with Seth MacFarlane, the entertainer is showcasing his love of Big Band and American Songbook standards.
An Evening with Seth MacFarlane at Baltimore Symphony is coming on the heels of the artist’s recent sold-out shows with the San Francisco Symphony on New Year’s Eve and the National Symphony Orchestra on Valentine’s Day.
Although well-known for Family Guy and his role in the movie industry, MacFarlane is an ardent singer with a great baritone voice. In 2011, MacFarlane released his debut album under the Universal Republic label. Titled Music is Better Than Words, the album celebrates the classic, sophisticated sound of the vibrant swing orchestras of the ‘40s and ‘50s with MacFarlane singing some of the celebrated music of that era. Norah Jones and Sara Bareilles collaborated with MacFarlane on two duets on the album.
Music is Better Than Words was an instant success. In addition to debuting at #1 on the iTunes jazz charts in 2011, it also received two Grammy nominations, including ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.’
Music is Better Than Words was followed by Holiday for Swing, MacFarlane’s first-ever Christmas album. Released in 2014, the album debuted at #1 on the iTunes holiday album charts. Holiday for Swing features timeless holiday songs accompanied by a 52-piece orchestra.
In addition to his two albums and collaborations, MacFarlane has performed on stage with world-class musicians. In August of 2014, he was on stage with the world-renowned John Williams Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, where he captivated the musical audience with his baritone voice. MacFarlane is the brain behind the animated series Family Guy aired on FOX. In its 13th season, Family Guy has brought MacFarlane acclaim in the entertainment world.
