APPOINTMENT

The appointment of Kim Gattle as the new Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Deputy Director for Institutional Advancement renews hope for growing capital gifts, membership revenue, foundation and government grants, corporate partnerships, and planned gifts.

INDIANAPOLIS — Kim Gattle has been named the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s (IMA) new Deputy Director for Institutional Advancement. Gattle’s addition will help engender a sustainable and secure financial foundation for the institution as it continues to grow and implement new art programs. Gattle will officially join the IMA in November.

Gattle already has her work cut out for her. Soon after taking her position in November, she will immediately engage in strategic planning for the IMA’s membership and fundraising activities. Working with the staff and board, Gattle will develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan for IMA. Beyond increasing the museum’s engagement with donors, members, and the public, Gattle’s ultimate responsibility is to facilitate new ways of growing the IMA’s annual support, major and capital gifts, membership revenue, foundation, and government grants, corporate partnerships and planned gifts.

This is a critical time for the IMA—one of innovation and creativity—as we prepare to launch exciting new programming, unprecedented exhibitions and a monumental new art addition to our campus, Roy Lichtenstein’s Five Brushstrokes sculpture currently being installed on The Dudley and Mary Louise Sutphin Mall. These initiatives present fresh opportunities for donor engagement and financial growth, and I am confident that Gattle is the right person at the right time for the IMA.

With more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and development work, Gattle brings a fresh perspective to fundraising at IMA. Currently, the president and founder of Gattle & Company, an Indianapolis-based fundraising consulting firm, Gattle has served as the director of fundraising and institutional advancement at The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

at The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, Gattle directed the launch of a $100 million endowment campaign. The campaign resulted in record-level funding from individuals as well as local and national foundations, including the largest grant ever received in the Center’s history. Gattle’s experience also includes leadership positions within the Indiana University School of Medicine, Walther Cancer Institute, New Hope of Indiana Development Corporation, and her family’s Florida-based company, Gattle’s Inc.

Kim Gattle: A Seasoned Fundraiser

A seasoned fundraiser, Gattle is aware of the importance of philanthropy to an institution like IMA. “Philanthropy is central to achieving the IMA’s aspirational goals,” said Gattle. She adds that “I’m honored to lead the IMA’s development team and help take the fundraising program to a new level of sustained performance.”

A graduate of the University of Florida, Gattle received her master’s degree in philanthropic studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. She is a faculty member at The Fund Raising School and an author on the subject of major gift fundraising.
