Due to on-going restructuring, Artcentron has postponed its popular annual Flowers We Love Photo Contest

BALTIMORE, MD– Artcentron announced today that it would not be holding its popular annual Flowers We Love Photo Contest.   The postponement, according to the company, is due to the restructuring going on at the company.  “We are working on several ideas this year as part of the effort to grow the company. In our last meeting, it was agreed that we have to take the company in a new direction to make it more endearing to everyone.

In early April, speculations that the annual photo contest would not be held caused many people to wonder what was going on. “We got emails and notes from our readers and photographers asking when the contest was going to start. They were disappointed when we told them that the Artcentron Flowers we Love Photo Contest would not be held this year. It breaks our heart but we have to do this now so we can get better at what we do,” the spokesperson said.

As part of the restructuring effort, the Artcentron is working on reorganizing the website to make it even more users friendly.  “We are discussing with our technical people on how to make the website more accessible and more reader friendly.”

In addition to the technical aspect associated with the website, the company is also introducing new features that will encourage greater participation from its readers. Some of the new features include Work of the Day and from Our Contributors. “Our main objective with this new effort is to bring new and more engaging contents to our readers.  As we grow, it is clear to us that we must continue to engage our readers.”

Since the Company started, a lot of effort has gone into giving it an edge in the competitive media world. “We are always looking for new ways to better serve our readers. They are very important to us and we must continue to do our best to serve their interest.”

Besides strengthening the regular features on the website, the company is also introducing new ones that will include greater participation from its readers. The company is also working on several programs that will benefit artists, especially the young ones. “Our focus is to  find ways to educate and empower young artists.” The photo contest will return next year

The photo contest will return next year. In the main while, photographers can send their images of flowers. “They will be featured as  part of our images and photos of the day.”

Love Emoji Art: Expressing Affection in a Digital Language

    posted by ARTCENTRON

The adoring emojis. Love emoji art is a universal way of communicating love and affection.

With love emoji art, expressing love and conveying affection now transcends language barriers, as universally recognized symbols provide a visual language accessible to people of diverse cultures and linguistic backgrounds.

    BY KAZEEM ADELEKE, ARTCENTRON

In the expansive landscape of digital communication, love emoji art has emerged as a captivating and expressive form of conveying affection, transcending language barriers. As emojis continue to dominate our online conversations, love emojis take center stage in conveying emotions of love, joy, and warmth.

    Evolution of Emoji Communication

Originally a Japanese creation, emojis have transformed into a global phenomenon. Their journey began in the late ’90s, and since then, they have seamlessly integrated into online conversations, fundamentally altering how we digitally express ourselves. As of today, emojis have evolved beyond mere symbols; they now function as a universal language, playing a pivotal role in modern communication.

This innovative form of communication originated with Shigetaka Kurita in 1999, who designed the first set of 176 emojis, combining the Japanese words for “picture” (e) and “character” (moji). Initially, emojis were confined to Japanese mobile phones, but as technology advanced, their popularity surged globally.

The widespread adoption of emojis is not solely due to their aesthetic appeal but also stems from their ability to convey emotions, ideas, and reactions succinctly. In a fast-paced digital world, where brevity is key, emojis serve as powerful tools for enhancing and clarifying the tone of messages. They have become an integral part of online culture, reflecting the diversity of human expression in a visually concise manner.

In essence, emojis have transcended cultural and linguistic boundaries, serving as a testament to the ever-evolving nature of communication in the digital age. Their significance continues to grow, and as technology progresses, one can only anticipate further innovations in the realm of digital expression.

Love Emojis: A Unique Form of Expression

Love emojis manifest in diverse forms, ranging from the timeless classic heart symbol to more intricate designs symbolizing romantic sentiments. Gaining an understanding of the subtle meanings behind these emojis not only enriches digital expressions of affection but also transforms the way we convey emotions in the digital age.

The classic heart symbol, universally recognized as a representation of love, has expanded into an array of options, each carrying its own subtle connotations. For instance, the red heart signifies a profound and passionate love, while the pink heart often conveys a softer and more playful affection. Furthermore, the emoji with heart eyes is commonly used to express admiration, and the blowing-kiss emoji adds a touch of sweetness to messages.

As love emojis continue to soar in popularity, they have become a visual shorthand for concisely expressing complex emotions. In the expansive landscape of digital communication, where words might sometimes fall short, these emojis bridge the gap by adding layers of meaning to messages. Whether it’s a simple expression of love or a nuanced sentiment, the evolving lexicon of love emojis is reshaping the landscape of emotional connection in the digital realm.

    Expressing Emotions Through Emoji Art

Utilizing emoji art as a means of expressing emotions extends beyond mere symbolism. Psychologically, engaging in visual communication through emojis offers a more immediate and impactful method of conveying feelings. The inherently visual nature of emoji art serves to amplify the emotional resonance of messages during digital interactions.

In the realm of digital communication, where face-to-face expressions are absent, emojis fill the gap by providing a visual language that transcends the limitations of text. The immediate recognition of familiar emojis, such as smiling faces, heart symbols, or teardrops, allows for a quick and intuitive understanding of the sender’s emotional state. This visual shorthand facilitates a more nuanced and efficient exchange of sentiments in a medium that often lacks the non-verbal cues present in traditional communication.

Furthermore, the versatility of emoji art enables individuals to tailor their expressions, choosing from a vast array of symbols to precisely convey the subtleties of their emotions. Whether it’s joy, sadness, or love, users can craft a visual representation that aligns with the specific sentiment they wish to communicate. In this way, emoji art becomes a powerful tool for enriching the emotional depth of digital conversations, creating a more engaging and empathetic mode of expression in the digital age.

Love Emoji Art Challenges and Contests

The surging popularity of emoji art has spawned challenges and contests, providing individuals with opportunities to showcase their skills. Participation in these events not only allows artists to test their creativity but also offers a platform for recognition and potential rewards.

Across various online platforms, emoji art competitions have become a vibrant phenomenon, attracting participants from diverse backgrounds. These contests typically encourage artists to create compelling and innovative emoji compositions within specified themes or constraints. The themes may range from expressing complex emotions to crafting emojis that tell a story. Such challenges serve not only as a creative outlet but also as a dynamic way for artists to push the boundaries of conventional emoji usage.

Participating individuals not only compete for prizes but also gain visibility within the online emoji art community. Winning or even just participating in these contests can open doors to collaborations, commissions, or simply connecting artists with like-minded enthusiasts. These events foster a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition, contributing to the continuous evolution and refinement of emoji art as a distinct form of digital expression. As the popularity of emoji art contests grows, they not only serve as showcases for individual talent but also as catalysts for the ongoing development and recognition of this unique creative medium.

Incorporating Emoji Art in Everyday Life

Love emoji art transcends the boundaries of digital screens; it has seamlessly integrated itself into everyday life. Whether in personal messages or social media posts, emoji art has evolved into a natural extension of self-expression. The incorporation of emoji art in relationships goes beyond mere text-based communication, adding a playful and affectionate dimension to the way emotions are conveyed.

In today’s interconnected world, where digital communication is pervasive, emoji art has become a widely embraced means of expressing love and affection. Couples often use emojis to enhance the emotional resonance of their messages, infusing a sense of warmth and intimacy. The use of heart emojis, kissy faces, or customized combinations to represent shared jokes and sentiments creates a unique and personalized communication style.

Moreover, the use of love emoji art extends beyond romantic relationships to include friendships and family dynamics. It serves as a universal language that transcends linguistic barriers, making it accessible and relatable to people of all ages and backgrounds. As emoji art continues to play a significant role in shaping modern communication, its ability to add a touch of joy and sentiment to everyday interactions remains a testament to its enduring appeal. The expressive and visually captivating nature of emoji art has, indeed, become an integral part of how individuals connect and share their emotions in the contemporary digital landscape.

    Impact on Pop Culture

Love emoji art has transcended its origins in digital conversations to become a notable influence on pop culture. Iconic emoji designs, once confined to screens, have now made their way onto various forms of merchandise, effectively bridging the gap between digital expression and tangible products. This commercialization of popular emoji art designs not only reflects their widespread appeal but also solidifies their place in contemporary culture.

The impact of emoji art on pop culture is evident in the array of products featuring beloved designs. T-shirts, mugs, phone cases, and even home decor now proudly display iconic heart emojis, smiley faces, and other popular symbols. This integration of emoji art into tangible items allows individuals to extend their digital expressions into the physical realm, creating a seamless connection between the online and offline aspects of their lives.

Beyond personal items, major brands and retailers have recognized the marketability of emoji art, incorporating these universally recognized symbols into their marketing strategies. Advertisements, packaging, and even billboard campaigns frequently leverage the emotional resonance and instant recognition that come with these symbols. As a result, love emoji art has become not just a form of self-expression but a cultural phenomenon with a significant impact on the way we navigate and consume products in the contemporary marketplace.

    Criticism and Controversies

Despite the widespread embrace of emoji art, it is not exempt from controversies. Critics argue that emojis can oversimplify communication, potentially leading to misunderstandings. This concern is particularly pronounced in discussions of sensitive topics where clarity is of paramount importance, and love emoji art, in particular, may face criticism.

The simplicity and universality of emojis, while contributing to their popularity, can sometimes result in ambiguity. Critics contend that in emotionally charged or delicate conversations, the use of love emojis might be misinterpreted, as these symbols often carry subjective meanings. For instance, a heart emoji could convey affection, support, or even sympathy, and the context in which it is used becomes crucial. The potential for misunderstanding arises when individuals interpret the same emoji differently based on their personal experiences or cultural nuances.

Despite these concerns, proponents argue that emojis, including love emoji art, provide a valuable and efficient means of expression, especially in digital communication where non-verbal cues are limited. Striking a balance between the creative use of emojis and maintaining clear communication remains a topic of ongoing discussion. As emoji art continues to evolve, it sparks a nuanced conversation about the delicate balance between expression and potential ambiguity in the ever-expanding realm of digital communication.

Emoji Art as a Cultural Phenomenon

The cultural significance of emoji art resonates worldwide, with different cultures interpreting love emojis in unique ways, thereby adding cultural diversity to this evolving digital language. Functioning as a cultural bridge, emoji art plays a pivotal role in connecting people by facilitating shared emotional expressions and transcending language differences.

Across diverse cultures, love emojis may carry distinct connotations and meanings. For instance, while a red heart is universally recognized as a symbol of love, its interpretation may vary subtly. In some cultures, it might represent deep romantic affection, while in others, it could convey familial love or friendship. The use of emoji art allows individuals to communicate these nuanced emotions, fostering a sense of shared understanding that transcends linguistic and cultural barriers.

The cultural diversity embedded in emoji art contributes to its universal appeal. Embraced by individuals globally, this digital language has become a tool for fostering cross-cultural communication and understanding. As societies become increasingly interconnected in the digital landscape, emoji art serves as a unifying force, highlighting the commonality of human emotions and experiences while celebrating the richness of cultural diversity.

    Future Trends in Emoji Art

As technology advances, the world of emoji art undergoes continuous transformation. Augmented reality, animated emojis, and new design possibilities are paving the way for an exciting future in this expressive form. Emoji art is poised to continue evolving, providing individuals with innovative ways to connect emotionally in the ever-expanding digital realm.

The integration of augmented reality into emoji art represents a cutting-edge development. With this technology, users can incorporate emojis seamlessly into their physical surroundings, enhancing the interactive and immersive nature of digital expression. Imagine sending an animated emoji that appears to dance or float in real space during a video call, adding a dynamic layer to the way emotions are conveyed.

Animated emojis represent another stride forward in the evolution of this visual language. Beyond static images, these dynamic symbols can capture a broader range of emotions, injecting life and movement into digital conversations. The ability to convey joy, excitement, or even humor through animated emojis adds a new dimension to the richness of communication in the digital age.

Furthermore, the exploration of new design possibilities allows for greater personalization and creativity in emoji art. Users can anticipate a more extensive range of symbols, colors, and styles, enabling them to craft emojis that better align with their unique personalities and emotional expressions. The evolving landscape of emoji art reflects not only technological advancements but also the ever-growing desire for more nuanced and individualized forms of digital communication.

A Final Note on Love Emoji Art

Love emoji art stands as a testament to the dynamic evolution of digital communication. Its undeniable impact on personal expression, relationships, and pop culture highlights its significance. As we navigate the ever-expanding world of emojis, love emoji art remains a vibrant and creative means of expressing affection in a language that transcends words.

The enduring popularity of love emoji art is evident in its widespread adoption across various digital platforms. Individuals routinely incorporate heart emojis, kissy faces, and other affectionate symbols into their messages, adding a layer of emotion and playfulness to their digital interactions. Beyond personal communication, the influence of love emoji art extends to social media, where users express their sentiments through these universally recognized symbols, contributing to the overall visual language of online culture.

In relationships, love emoji art has become an integral part of expressing romantic feelings and fostering emotional connections. Couples often use personalized combinations of emojis to convey inside jokes, shared experiences, or the nuances of their affection. This digital form of expression not only enhances communication but also serves as a visual language that deepens the emotional connection between individuals.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND— On August 25, the Baltimore Mural Program proudly unveiled Bauhaus Blue, a mural reminiscent of the iconic Bauhaus style. It is the creation of Baltimore muralist Jaz Erenberg. Gracefully adorning the side of the building at 1733 Maryland Ave., the artwork not only pays homage to the Bauhaus movement but also takes on the role of a catalyst, infusing new life into Baltimore’s Station North Community.

The unveiling of Bauhaus Blue came just after the completion of yet another exquisite mural embellishing the walls of The Gallery at the Inner Harbor. This stunning mural, Our Baltimore, encapsulates the vibrant essence of a city teeming with vitality. The wraparound mural is the work of two local artists, Eric Abrecht and Andy Snair, who worked in consultation with Turning Art.

Together, these murals stand as testaments to the innovation, dedication, and unwavering commitment of the Baltimore Mural Program in its mission to enhance the beauty of Baltimore.

Baltimore, Maryland, has a vibrant arts scene, a rich history, and diverse neighborhoods. One of Baltimore’s most beloved cultural institutions is the Baltimore Mural Program. It was created in 1975 to make Baltimore neighborhoods more attractive. Its objectives were also to instill a sense of pride, provide employment for local artists in their own field, combat graffiti in neighborhoods, and engage young people in the beautification of their own communities. Working with artists, neighborhood groups, associations, and funding sources, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) coordinates and directs this ongoing program.

What is the Baltimore Mural Program?

The Baltimore Mural Program is a public art initiative that works to beautify Baltimore’s neighborhoods by commissioning large-scale murals and public artworks. The program was a proactive response to the growing problem of graffiti in the city, which was seen as a blight on Baltimore’s urban landscape. By commissioning artists to create high-quality murals in public spaces, the Baltimore Mural Program sought to combat graffiti and other forms of vandalism while also making Baltimore a more beautiful and welcoming place to live and visit.

How Does the Baltimore Mural Program Work?

BOPA, a standalone 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serves as the arts council, events producer, and film office for the City of Baltimore. It stands as the foremost advocate for the arts in the vibrant city of Baltimore, and its remarkable annual economic impact on special events and festivals amounts to more than $111.1 million.

Working in collaboration with local neighborhood groups and associations, BOPA identifies sites throughout the city where murals can have the most impact. It then commissions artists to create designs for these sites. Once the designs are approved, the artists are given the resources and support they need to complete their murals. This support includes everything from funding and materials to technical assistance and guidance from experienced muralists.

What Makes the Baltimore Mural Program Unique?

One of the things that sets the Baltimore Mural Program apart from other public art initiatives is its emphasis on community engagement and empowerment. The program works closely with local neighborhood groups and associations to identify sites for murals and involve residents in designing and creating the artwork. By involving local residents in the process, the Baltimore Mural Program is able to create artwork that truly reflects the character and identity of each neighborhood while also empowering residents to take an active role in the beautification of their own communities.

In the vibrant landscape of Baltimore street murals, Wall of Pride (Back to the Future) stands out as a captivating masterpiece, skillfully recreated by Ernest Shaw with the assistance of GAIA, Mural Masters, Deborah Mason, and Michelle Santos. This awe-inspiring mural at 1601 N. Carey St. in Sandtown-Winchester showcases a remarkable array of public figures. Adorning the wall is a captivating array of portraits featuring esteemed individuals such as Colin Kaepernick, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Toni Morrison, Nina Simone, John Lewis, and Marcus Garvey. This striking mural, originally crafted between 1976 and 1977 by Pontella Mason and Avon Martin, is a heartfelt dedication to former President Jimmy Carter. The mural’s current rendition serves an even deeper purpose.

One Day at a Time by Michael Owen

Another remarkable mural, One Day at a Time by Michael Owen, adorns the streets of Maryland Ave. and W. 26th St. in Charles Village. This artwork is truly unique. The artist uses neutral colors and skillful shadows to deliver a powerful message to passersby. Its purpose is to raise awareness about addiction and the journey to recovery, with an impact that extends far beyond its visual beauty.

The Freddie Gray mural is truly moving, serving as a poignant tribute to the young Baltimorean who tragically lost his life while in police custody. It eloquently captures the essence of the civil rights struggle by placing Gray alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and other marchers from that historic movement. Additionally, it skillfully juxtaposes images of contemporary protesters fighting against injustice.

Renowned muralist Nether, known for his impactful works around West Baltimore, collaborated closely with Gray’s family on this project. The mural conveys the unity and strength of purpose shared by activists from both eras, forging a powerful force against inequality. As a testament to the enduring spirit of change and justice in the city’s heart, this mural holds a special place in the hearts of those who encounter it.

Since its creation in 1975, the Baltimore Mural Program has had a significant impact on the city of Baltimore. By commissioning large-scale murals and public artworks, the program has helped to beautify the city’s neighborhoods, combat graffiti and other forms of vandalism, and create opportunities for local artists to showcase their work and build their careers.

In addition to these tangible benefits, the Baltimore Mural Program has also had a profound impact on the social fabric of the city. By engaging local residents in the creation of these artworks, the program has helped to build community pride and strengthen social bonds. The program has also provided a platform for underrepresented artists and communities to have their voices heard, helping to promote diversity and inclusivity in Baltimore’s arts scene.

    Artists and Community Selections

Murals can add color, vibrancy, and character to a building or public space. They can also be a great way to engage the community and promote local culture. As a Baltimore artist or community member, bringing a mural to your neighborhood requires some effort.

The process of selecting artists for Baltimore’s murals is a collaborative effort, often involving community input and artistic expertise. Neighborhoods interested in requesting murals typically initiate the process by engaging with local art organizations or the BOPA. After discussing their vision and needs, a call for artists may be issued, inviting both local and external talent to submit proposals. A panel of experts, which can include community members, artists, and representatives from BOPA, reviews the proposal. The selected artist or team collaborates closely with the community throughout the creative process, ensuring that the mural reflects the neighborhood’s unique identity and aspirations. This democratic and artistic approach fosters a sense of ownership and pride among residents.

Approval Process for a Mural in Baltimore: An Overview

Although the process of getting approval for a mural can seem daunting at first, it is easy to accomplish. Below is an outline of the mural approval process in Baltimore, as well as factors that can affect mural costs. Getting approval for a mural in Baltimore is not a difficult process, but it does involve several steps and considerations. By working with a community or neighborhood association and following the guidelines set forth by the city, artists and community members can bring beautiful and meaningful murals to their neighborhoods.

The process for getting approval for a mural in Baltimore typically involves the following steps:

    1. Mural Design and Productions

The first step in getting approval for a mural is to design and produce the artwork itself. In most cases, a muralist will work in collaboration with a community or neighborhood association to develop a concept that reflects the local culture and values. The mural artist will typically work under a contract with the community association or the building owner, which outlines the scope of work, timeline, and compensation.

    1. Right of Entry Approval

Once the mural design is complete, the building owner must provide written acceptance of the mural, known as a “Right of Entry.” This document outlines the terms of the agreement between the building owner and the mural artist. It also gives the artist permission to access the property and install the mural. If the property belongs to the city, a “Right of Entry” will come from Baltimore Housing’s Office of Legal Affairs.

    1. CHAP Review (if applicable)

If the building is in a historic district, the mural and its design must be reviewed by the Baltimore City Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation (CHAP). This review ensures that the mural is appropriate for the historic district and meets certain standards for quality and aesthetics.

    1. Installation and Maintenance

Once all necessary approvals have been obtained, the mural can be installed. The artist will typically provide their own supplies and equipment and may need to rent specialized equipment such as scaffolding or lifts. After installation, the mural may require ongoing maintenance to keep it looking its best.

    Factors that Affect Mural Costs

The price of commissioning a mural can fluctuate significantly, influenced by a myriad of factors, such as:

    • The wall size and Condition

The size and condition of the wall that the mural will be on can have a significant impact on costs. A larger wall will require more paint and materials, while a wall in poor condition may require additional preparation and repair work before the mural can be installed.

    • Artist’s Fee

The artist’s fee is another major factor in the cost of a mural. Experienced and highly skilled artists may command higher fees, while less experienced artists may charge less.

    • Cost of sundries and supplies

In addition to the cost of the artist’s fee, there are also costs associated with supplies and accessories such as paint, brushes, and other materials.

    • Equipment Rentals

If specialized equipment, such as scaffolding or lifts, is needed to install the mural, this can also add to the overall cost.

Love is in the air, and many people are preparing to celebrate Valentine’s Day. For Spanish-speaking lovers and those in interracial relationships, here are the best Spanish love songs to serenade your love today and always.

    BY KAZAD

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for lovers to celebrate each other. For many people, it takes weeks to prepare for the celebration. Preparation often includes buying gifts and planning events. As with many of us, Hispanics also celebrate with each other on Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is known as El Dia De San Valentin among Spanish-speaking people. For the celebration, Hispanic lovers try to outdo each other. They buy teddy bears, balloons, chocolates, and flowers. So big is Valentine’s Day in the Hispanic community that stores devote so much time to pleasing amantes. Stores that meet the needs of Hispanic lovers during Valentine’s Day celebrations are smiling all the way to the bank. Why? In 2019, the Pew Research Center estimated that there were roughly 60.6 million Hispanics in the United States. The numbers have increased since then, making Hispanics a major economic block.

    Preparing for Valentine’s Day Celebrations

The celebration of Valentine’s Day in Spanish-speaking communities is taken seriously. There are balloons with inscriptions like “Feliz Dia De San Valentin,” “Te Amo,” “Te Quiera,” “Quiereme,” and “Besame” everywhere. Additionally, people spend as much as they can to make their partners and lovers happy. Women buy new dresses to wear just as men get their hair cut and get the shape-up their lovers have been demanding for weeks. That is the magic of Valentine’s Day.

This year’s Valentine’s Day celebration will be different just, as in the past two years. The spread of COVID-19 and variants like Delta and Omicron has made gathering dangerous. In past years, Hispanic communities have celebrated Valentine’s Day wholeheartedly. They host parties, go to bars and restaurants. There was also always so much festivity until the coronavirus raised its ugly head.

Despite COVID-19, Hispanic communities are finding ways to celebrate each other. For many Spanish-speaking people who are staying home to celebrate Valentine’s Day, there is so much to enjoy. Perhaps, the first place to start is by cooking romantic dinners or just ordering out. Some amazing Hispanic food includes Paella Valenciana, Patatas Bravas, Gaz, Jamon, Tortilla, Chureos, and Albondigas. But many may also enjoy Creamy Tuscan Chicken, Steak Diane, Chicken Tikka Alfredo, and Marry Me Chicken, among others.

After finishing the delectable meal, turn off the lights and listen to some of the best Spanish love songs.

    Intercultural Relationships: Celebrating Spanglish Lovers

The United States is the world’s melting pot. It has people from all over the world, which enables the intermingling of people of different cultures. In fact, interracial marriages and couplings have been on the increase in the past few years. For people in an intercultural relationship, the opportunity to enjoy love songs from each other’s culture makes for a dynamic Valentine’s Day celebration. On the one hand, intercultural lovers can listen to English love songs. Some of my favorite love songs are “Love You,” “Be Mine,” “I Love You,” and “Let’s Ride Together.” Classic serenade songs and old lovesongs by Marvin Gay, Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, and many others will always add flavor to the night.

It is important for those in intercultural relationships with Spanish-speaking lovers to spice up their Valentine’s Day celebrations with some of the best Spanish romantic songs. Classic Latin romantic songs, for instance, are forever endearing to even those who do not speak Spanish. A few of my top classic Spanish love songs include Bésame Mucho, Ya No Estás Más a Mi Lado Corazón, Esta Tarde Vi Lover, Algo Contigo and Reloj no Marques las Horas, and Amor, Amor, Amor.

Bésame Mucho: One of the Favorite Spanish Love Songs

One of my favorite Spanish love songs is Bésame Mucho. This song sets my mood alive every time I listen to it. The music and lyrics were written by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velasquez in 1941.  According to Velasquez, the song was inspired by an opera by Enrique Granados, a Spanish composer, and pianist of classical music. Velasquez suddenly died at the age of 85.

Although Bésame Mucho is an iconic Spanish love song composed more than eight decades ago, it continues to radiate love. Many musicians and singers have performed different versions of the song. In 2006, Andre Bocelli gave a great tenor flavor to the song to the audience’s delight at Sugar Srl. Other musicians who have sung the song include, Trio Los Panchos, Cesaria Evora, Diana Krall, Tino Rossi, Elvis Presley, and Tatiana Eva-Marie & Avalon Jazz Band. Listening to different musicians sing this beautiful composition, will set the right mood for love.

Marc Anthony’s Tu Amor Me Hace Bie is Delightful

Marc Anthony’s Tu Amor Me Hace Bie is a delight to listen to. The confluence of rhythms, including horns, drums, and percussion, will make any heart melt. Marc Anthony’s wailing voice, telling his lover that her love makes him feel good will make anyone sing along. Singing Tu Amor Me Hace Bie along with Marc Anthony’s makes me feel like I can sing. What? Please, don’t judge me.

Te Amo by Franco De Vita is an amazing love song to enjoy on Valentine’s Day. De Vita’s voice and rhythm will teleport any listener to the land of love. The song teaches us how to easily say “I love you” to our partners. Te Amo tells of love and two lovers who do not care what people think about them. All they want to do is be together, walking under the moon hand in hand, giggling like two fools. The lovers share an aspiration not just for love but also to prove that nothing can stand in the way of love. In some ways, the song reflects other great love songs by famous singers like Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, and many others. Te Amo is a love song for all time.

    Karaoke for Valentine’s Day Celebration

Staying home for this year’s celebrations provides immense opportunities for lovers who are adventurous. One such opportunity is having a karaoke night.  Adding karaoke to the Valentine’s Day celebrations could ensure the excitement of a lifetime. For Hispanic lovers who know how to sing or have good voices, Valentine’s Day celebrations karaoke night is an opportunity to show off their skills. There are amazing sing-along Spanish love songs for lovers to pick from.

Lovers can also sing duets. There are many Spanish love songs lyrics with English translations that lovers and learn and sing together.

Best Serenade Songs and a Bouquet of Flowers for Valentine’s Day. Here is a list of 70 love songs to woo your lover today and always.

    BY KAZAD

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND–Love is in the air and lovers are doing their best to make this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration memorable.

Stores are filled with some of the best Valentine’s Day gifts: balloons, teddy bears, and wines. Some of the inscriptions on balloons and teddy bears are witty and stimulating: “Love You,” “Be Mine,” “I Love You,” and “Be Ride Together.”

This year’s Valentine’s Day celebration will be different because of COVID-19.  To avoid spreading the virus, many lovers will have to celebrate at home or through Zoom.  Well, there are lots of zoom lovers this year because the coronavirus has made it difficult for some lovers together.

Whichever way lovers decided to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, there are steps they can follow to make it memorable.

Organizing dinner is one way to make this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration memorable. Even if you are zoom lovers, you can still make dinner work. Technology has made it easier to order the best food, wines, and nonalcoholic beverages.  After ordering food and drinks, make sure you set the mood to make the night pleasurable.

The chance to set the mood is one advantage of eating at home on Valentine’s Day. You can set the mood with a collection of the best love songs that will help serenade your lover.

Nothing beats a romantic evening at home with love songs playing in the background. Thanks to technology, is now easy to get some of the best serenade songs to woo your lover on Valentine’s Day.  Some of my favorite sweet serenades are by Secondhand Serenade.

    Secondhand Serenade

One of my favorite groups to listen to for serenade songs is Secondhand Serenade. Led by vocalist, pianist, and guitarist John Vesely, Secondhand Serenade has produced several albums with some of the best serenade songs that lovers continue to use to serenade their girlfriends and lovers.     Albums like Awake (2007), A Twist in My Story (2008), Hear Me Now (2010), and Undefeated (2014) have amazing love songs that are reinvigorating.

Tracks like Let Me In, Come Back To Me, Price We Pay, Stay Close, Don’t Go, You and I, Fall for you, and Your Call by Secondhand Serenadeare some of my favorite tracks.  I also listen to classic serenade songs and old love songs from Marvin Gay, Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, and many others that have created songs for the hearts. Some of the best love songs are by country music artists, rock music stars, and indie musicians. Yes, there are modern love songs by contemporary artists that will take your heart on a journey of love.

    Songs About Love

Serenade songs are songs about love. Musicians and composers have for many years been writing serenade songs that touch the soul. To effectively communicate their emotion, they explore different instruments. Therefore, there are serenade songs for instruments like piano, guitar, and acoustic. Some of my best serenade songs for piano include My Heart Will Go On (Celine Dion), A Thousand Miles (Venessa Carlton), All I Ask For You (Andrew Lloyd Webber), and A Whole New World (Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott)

    Serenade Song Lyrics

There are several ways to wooyour lover withserenade songs. If you know how to sing and play any musical instrument, you can learn a serenade song lyric and sing it to your lover during or after dinner.  There are many YouTube videos though which you can learn lyrics of some of the best serenade songs.  If you are going to play the guitar, make sure it istuned before the performance.  However, you don’t have to strive for perfection. The idea is to have fun andenjoy your relationship.

    Serenade Songs Karaoke

Another way to enjoy the Valentine’s Day celebration is to have a karaoke night with your lover.  You can sing duets like Endless Love. Yes, I like Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.  Here is my list of best serenade songs duet.

Need some inspiration this Valentine’s Day? Here are sweet serenade songs that will help lovers celebrate their love and set the right mood this Valentine’s Day and Always

    BY KAZAD

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND—Across Baltimore and the United States, many people are preparing for the Valentine’s Day celebration. While some people are searching stores for Valentine’s Day gifts, others are scrolling through Amazon searching for unforgettable gifts for their hubbies. In celebration of this moment, stores are filled with hellion balloons of various shapes, colors, and sizes competing to touch the ceiling. While some have the word “Love” boldly written on them, others have colorful hearts drawn on them. There are also flowers, teddy bears and candies in luscious packaging specifically design for the lovers.

In addition to buying gifts, couples are also booking seats in restaurants where they will enjoy sumptuous meals. Many Baltimore restaurants are aware of the financial benefits of Valentine’s Day celebrating and are giving discounts to couples interested in spending time in their restaurants. Some restaurants are even organizing their own Valentine’s Day events. Love vacations is another option lovers are exploring for the celebration of their love on this Valentine’s Day.

    Lovers Sweet Serenade Songs

However, for those who cannot afford a table at the restaurant or go on love vacations, home is the best place to celebrate the goodness of their love. Perhaps, this is a cheaper way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  Couples can buy a good wine, cook some food and play sweet serenade songs.  For those who do not drink alcohol, there are non-alcoholic drinks that will do quite well for the occasion. With all that, all that is left is a collection of sweet serenade songs to perfect a romantic evening.

The joy of celebrating your Valentine’s Day at home is the opportunity to do things your own way, including setting the mood with sweet serenade songs, There are many sweet serenade songs that will fill the celebration with sweetness and emotions.  For decades, musicians have been creating sweet serenade songs specifically composed for lovers and couples.

    Sweet Serenade Songs For Lovers

In the 1970s, for instance, love songs like How Deep is Your Love by Bee Gees, to I’ve Got Love On MY Mind by Natalie Cole, Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You by George Benson, and Best of My Love by Emotions served as sweet serenade songs for the soul. It is not for naught that people describe them as oldies but goodies. Of course one cannot forget musicians like Marvin Gaye, Luther Van dross, Anita Baker,  Diana Ross, Boyz II Men, Donna Lewis, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, and Sade,   who used their voices and  love songs to mesmerize hearts.

For those who love country music, there are many sweet serenade country music out there. In fact, some of my favorite love songs are by country music artists, rock music stars and indie musicians.   There is also an array soulful love music composed by contemporary musicians who have followed in the path of celebrated musicians who use their songs to serenade the soul of lovers.

Thinking Out Loud: One of My Favorite Sweet Serenade Songs for Lovers

One of my recent favorite is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.  From when the music was released in 2014 until now, this track has reminded me of the serendipitous nature of love and its transcending magical transformation. Sheeran’s voice and the music video make me sing out loud every time I listen to this soul stirring music.

To crown the night of love, you must listen to Always by Atlantic Starr.  This love song should be on everyone’s list of sweet serenade songs. It professes an everlasting love that will always endure through the years. Always praises the beauty of the woman and the dedication of her lover to an unending relationship. For those who are celebrating their anniversary this Valentine’s Day, Always is a reminder of that eternal love that have remained elusive for many. Are you still contemplating which songs to use to serenade your lover this Valentine’s Day? Here is a list of Sweet Serenade Songs.

JAPAN-For lovers of culture, design, history, nature, and books of great artistry, three new books by the Japanese design publisher PIE International will make a lasting impression. Set for release in autumn 2018, the three art books include paintings, illustrations, and watercolor paintings of birds, flowers, and many more. The three titles are A Victorian Flower Album, Elegance in Japanese Art: Edo Rinpa Bird and Flower Painting, and grow: The Art of Koyamori.

    A Victorian Flower Album
Henry Terry, Hiroshi Unno (Contributor). 182×226mm. 136 Pages (120 Pages in Color). Hardbound. Japanese, some English

Written by Henry Terry with a contribution by Hiroshi Unno, A Victorian Flower Album is a sophisticated book with a charming collection of hand-drawn wildflowers from the Victorian Era. Although originally published over 100 years ago, these illustrations are as gorgeous as when they were first published. In addition to the stunning images, the book includes a detailed glossary revealing the botanical names of each flower showcased.

A Victorian Flower Album goes back to the Victorian era when one father sketched wildflowers in the hills of Oxfordshire, making notes and observations for each flower for his daughters. Many of the heartwarming hand-drawn flowers in this book still grow wild in many places today. The book is a fine floral encyclopedia. It will be a great addition to the collections of gardeners, fine artists, and reference book collections of designers and illustrators.

Momo Miyazaki / Translation: Eric Luong. Pages:240 pages (Full color) Language: J/E bilingual

Elegance in Japanese Art: Edo Rinpa Bird and Flower Painting by Momo Miyazaki is an insightful book that brings together an amazing collection highlighting an important aspect of Edo’s artistic culture.  Filled with beautiful images, this is a fascinating book on the elegant paintings of birds and flowers in Edo-Rinpa painting.

However, beyond aesthetics, this book provides an informative and visually lush introduction to the Rinpa School: one of the major historical movements in Japanese art. The Rinpa School is one of the historical schools in Japanese painting established in 17th-century Kyoto. Later in the 19th century Edo (old Tokyo), Hoitsu Sakai, who worshiped and was influenced by Korin Ogata, revived this genre with his elegant, poetic, and refined taste.

    Revealing Elegance in Japanese Art

Elegance in Japanese Art: Edo Rinpa Bird and Flower Painting includes the most popular works of the Edo-Rinpa style. Additionally, the book features unique and innovative works from Kiitsu Suzuki, Hoitsu Sakai’s disciple, and shows how the Rinpa style has been passed on to modern painters such as Shunso Hishida and Sekka Kamisaka.

A specialist in Edo period painting and the curator of The Museum Yamato Bunkakan, Miyazaki’s book is detailed and informative. Rich in Japanese art, culture, and history, this is an unusual oversized art book. Its size is an opportunity to examine beautiful Japanese art.  Translated by Eric Luong, the book will be out on November 1, 2018. For those interested in Japanese art, this is an opportunity to discover traditional Japanese art. But more importantly, a chance to understand its influence on modern Japanese art.

This list of love songs includes some of the best love songs of all times to serenade your love on Valentine’s Day,

    BY KAZAD

It is a few days to Valentine’s Day and everywhere I turn, I see balloons, chocolate, and flowers, too.  In addition to buying all the best, things they can buy, lovers are also booking dates in restaurants. Some are even planning what is now considered love vacations. For those who cannot afford to go on love vacations,   they can stay at home and just have a good time. In addition to a home-cooked meal, they can also buy a bottle of wine to serenade their loves.  If you don’t drink alcohol, you can buy one of those sparkling apple ciders. All that is left is a collection of love songs to make a romantic evening perfect.

The advantage of eating at home is the opportunity to set the mood and play a selection of some of the best love songs of all times to serenade your love.  You can set the mood by turning the light low.  As Teddy Pendergrass said Turn Off The Lights. Then, you get to play love songs you love.

Nothing beats a romantic evening at home with love songs playing in the background. There are so many love songs you can play in the effort to serenade your lover.  Over the years, musicians have composed melodic love songs that have melted many hearts.  Some the songs are oldies but goodies. From Marvin Gay to Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and many others, they have created songs that are mesmerizing to the hearts. Some of the best love songs are by country music artists, rock music stars, and indie musicians. Yes, there are modern love songs by contemporary artists.

One of my favorites is Always by Atlantic Starr.  It is slow and beautiful. Sitting at a table with a glass of wine in hand and the music playing in the background, lovers can look into each other’s eyes and whisper sweet nothings. I have listened to this music repeatedly and it continues to have the same emotional effect on me as with when it was first released.

My Endless Love: One of the Favorite Love Songs

Another track I love so much is My Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.  This is one song that continues to set my mind heart alive whenever I hear it.  Although it is more than two decades old, it continues to be one of my favorite love songs.  Listening to Diana Ross and Lionel Richie sing the duet brings warmth to my soul.  The song is not just a reminder of the true meaning of love; it also preaches the virtue of endless love.

Kenny Rogers Lady is one of the love songs that will always make melt.  Every time I hear the song, it makes my heart beat ten times over.  Then, it becomes difficult for me to stop singing. Can I sing? No! However, singing Lady makes me feel like I can sing.  That is the impact Lady can have on you.

However, in Through the Years, I have also found inspiration for love.  Through the Years is a song not just about love but also an appreciation of love.  This is a love song to celebrate dedication to love and an unflinching affection between two people.  Above all, a song celebrates trust.  For those who are celebrating years of marriage on this Valentine’s Day, it is clear that true love stays the same no matter how many years you have been married. Still wondering what music to play to your love on Valentine’s Day?

Here are 40 of the best love songs of all time.

BOLOGNA,  ITALY-   Photographer  Vittorio Gui is a spiritual man who strives to create a perfect balance in his photography.  His black and white photographs take viewers beyond the image to a place of serenity.  Gui describes his black and white images as “the doors of nothing”.  Each image is carefully photographed to recall the shape of the human aura, luring viewers to transcend the luscious image.

The subjects of Gui’s works are simple yet powerful. His themes include flowers, clouds, and stones. For him, art must have a deeper essence beyond aesthetics. Vittorio Gui’s study and the practice of oriental disciplines is a major source of influence and inspiration for his private and artistic life.

In addition to his study of oriental disciplines, QiGong is also a major source of influence for the photographer and artist. In 2004, Gui attended the first lecture on QiGong at the Beijing University that enhanced his quest for deep spirituality. QiGong is a holistic form of gentle exercise composed of movement, breathing, and meditation aimed at achieving good health and spirituality.

The heightened sense of spirituality Gui learned from QiGong is evident in his photographs. Many of Gui’s photographs externalize the photographer’s internal quest for the meaning of reality and human experience.

Born 1966 in Bologna, Vittorio Gui has for the past two decades devoted himself to using photography to propagate the essence of meditation and concentration.  His works have been exhibited in private and public art galleries in Italy and abroad. You can see more his works Swiss Art Gate UAE.

JAPAN- An exhibition by Cai Guo-Qiang, one of the leading Chinese contemporary artists has opened at the Yokohama Museum of Art. Titled There and Back Again, this is the first large-scale solo exhibition of the artist to be held in Japan in the last seven years.

For Cai Guo-Qiang, the show is a form of homecoming because it reinforces his professional ties to Japan. To prepare for the show, Cai embarked on an expedition, researching Yokohama’s local history and the important cultural figures that bear relevance to his own background. The figures include Okakura Tenshin (also known as Kakuzō), a Japanese writer, and a critic. He contributed to the development of arts in Japan. Chiefly remembered today as the author of The Book of Tea, Okakura, like Cai Guo-Qiang, had multiple cultural ties to China, Japan, and the United States.

One of the major works in this exhibition is Nighttime Sakura. Created specifically for this show, this is the largest gunpowder drawing by the artist to date. Created in collaboration with students of various art colleges, Nighttime Sakura celebrates the significance of cherry blossom in Japanese culture.

    Japanese Vines

Continuing with the theme of the flower is Japanese Vines. The installation consists of hundreds of Japanese morning glories suspended from the ceiling. The life-like looking flower installation consists of terracotta ceramics, gunpowder, steel bars, and wire.   It drops from the ceiling in a way that captivates the audience.

Besides the new works, several seminal pieces by the artist are also on display. One of them is Head On (2006).  The visually staggering installation consists of 99 life-sized stuffed wolves crashing headlong into a glass wall. The installation is on display for the first time in Japan. Cai Guo-Qiang’s Head On has been a major source of fascination for art audiences since the show opened.

The momentum and the relentlessness of the wolves as they forcefully crash against the transparent barrier makes the piece dramatic. Inspired by Berlin and its history, Head On was conceived for the Deutsche Bank Collection. For the artist, however, Head On has a universal application as it reveals the Machiavellian and uncompromising human tendencies.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter (2014), a suite of four gun powder drawings on porcelain, each measuring 3m long by 2.4 m wide, pays tribute to the cyclical nature of the four-season. In addition, it evokes the spirit of Chinese literati ink painting.  Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter (2014), is a reminder of how human activities are destroying the environment. By contrasting the violence of gunpowder with the delicate and fragility of porcelain, Cai Guo-Qiang emphasizes the importance of balance between man nature.

There and Back Again, the title of the exhibition reflects Cai Guo-Qiang pondering on his journey from Japan to New York and across many lands and seas. The title comes from a famous poem Returning Home by Chinese poet Tao Yuanming’s ( 365-427). In the poem, Tao laments the “melancholy and lonely grief” of living abroad and the desire to go back home where he is well-loved and respected.  Tao nostalgia manifests in Cai’s journey from his native Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China, to Japan and New York.

    Cai Guo-Qiang: A Biography

Born in 1957, in the Quanzhou, Fujian Province of China), Cai Guo-Qiang began his artistic career in Japan. Soon after graduating from Shanghai Theater Academy, where he studied stage design, Cai began to experiment with multiple mediums within art, including drawing, installation, video, and performance to create innovative works.

For about nine years, Cai Guo-Qiang remained in Japan focused on creating ground-breaking works that captivated the Japanese art audience. Some of his earliest projects were exhibited at Tokyo-based nonprofit P3 art and environment. In the early 1990s, Cai Guo-Qiang also held solo shows at the Osaka Contemporary Art Center, Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, and Setagaya Art Museum.

While gaining fame at home, Cai Guo-Qiang was also attracting attention in the global art world circuit. In 1995, the artist moved to New York and is one of the most active contemporary artists in the world. He is well-known for his drawings made by the explosion of gunpowder, ephemeral events using fireworks and other media.  Guo-Qiang’s works consist of grand-scale installations and heart-rendering pieces. Cai is an important artist and one of the most celebrated Japanese artists in the art world.

There and Back Again presents significant works produced by Cai Guo-Qiang in recent years, many of which had never been shown in Japan. As an artist who was born in China, studied in Japan, and currently lives and works in America, Cai Guo-Qiang’s work reveals a symbolic contrast and harmony of Eastern philosophy and Western values.

Cai Guo-Qiang art is full of unprecedented surprises and discoveries. They are poignant and thought-provoking. Guo-Qiang’s works reflect his understanding of human nature and experiences. From the destruction of the environment to human greed and inordinate human quest, Cai Guo-Qiang’s artworks are didactic.

     Japan Revisit

There and Back Again, is a monumental solo exhibition that revisits a Japan where  Guo-Qiang began his artistic career. Although Cai has lived in the West for many years, he continues to draw from the well of Chinese culture and tradition.  His use of unconventional materials related to Chinese cultures such as gunpowder and Chinese traditional medicine grounds his artworks in the philosophy of Feng Shui.

As art celebrations begin in museums and art galleries across the globe, art lovers reflect on World Art Day

    BY KAZAD

World Art Day Logo: International Association of Art (AIAP/IAA)

Art celebrations have kicked off across the globe as part of the World Art Day draws near. Museums, galleries, and art institutions are celebrating the day by making art accessible to many people. The celebrations include free gallery shows, museum tours, and art talks.

The World Art Day was instituted in 2011 when the International Association of Art (AIAP/IAA) General Assembly agreed that April 15, Leonardo da Vinci ‘s birthday, should be set aside to celebrate World Art Day. For the body, the argument is that like other important celebrations such as Mothers Day, Valentine’s Day, and Fathers Day, art should have its own day.

The main objective of World Art Day is to generate art awareness throughout the globe. According to (AIAP / IAA), world celebrations should start on April 15, 2012. “On that day we suggest that all museums and galleries stay open long nights, we expect conferences and panel discussions to be held on that day (and eventually throughout the week, following April 15). In the evening, celebrations and wild parties should follow all the exhibitions opening simultaneously on “D Day”!

Many museums, art galleries, and art institutions across the globe have continued to follow the guide lines put in place by AIAP/IAA world towards the World Art Day celebrations. It is expected that this year’s celebrations will not only feature art shows, but also wild parties.

In Chicago, Sprinkles Cupcakes celebrated the 2017 World Art Day by providing customers with cupcakes decorated with artworks from artist and Chicago native Kim Schoenstadt.  The artful cupcakes also featured works by artists like Milwaukee native Maggie Michael, Adrien Saporiti, Chicagoan Kim Schoenstadt and Shinique Smith.  According to Sprinkles Cupcakes, a portion of the Art Cupcake sale will be donated to American for the Arts, an organization dedicated to providing aids and assist to art groups and individuals in the creative field.

As the celebrations begin, Artcentron went out to ask people about their views of art and the World Art Day celebrations. Below are some of their thoughts about contemporary art, modern art, photography, and books. While some agree that art celebrations are in order, others think an effort should be made to generate more awareness for the World Art Day celebrations.

“I will join this year’s celebrations by going to museum and galleries. If there is a wild party  included with the celebrations, that will even be better”

    1. All areas of art have the capacity to affect humans. Paintings, performing arts, literature, sculpture, theater, architecture, and movies all can influence how we think and behave if they are intellectually challenging. Unfortunately, many of the art around us today are substandard: they are just art for art sake and nothing more. When you go to museums and galleries, all you see are mediocre and flimsy works of art.   When did a pair of sequenced shoes in the gallery space become art? It is strange how artists now hide behind modern art or some theory to create unintelligent works they call art. Art celebrations are important and I think architecture should be celebrated too.

I love architecture. Everywhere I go, I look at buildings and I wonder what was in the mind of the architects while designing them. Thinking about the design process helps me understand the design process even better. I also love reading engaging books, listening to music, and watching intelligent movies. They help me relax and be more thoughtful. I will join this year’s celebrations by going to museum and galleries. If there is a wild party that included with the celebrations, that will even be better.

“In the hand of a devious person, art can lead to calamitous consequences. The ability to evoke emotions makes art very dangerous.”

    2. Every time I think about art, I am first reminded of how powerful art can be. During Hitler’s period, art was used as a propaganda tool to enslave others. Sadly, that has not changed. When you watch movies, television and listen to the radio, there is always so much effort to indoctrinate people.

In the hand of a devious person, art can lead to calamitous consequences. The ability to evoke emotions makes art very dangerous. In the events leading to the Iraqi war, powerful images of mushroom clouds and aerial photography of imagined nuclear sites were used to stir up emotions for an unnecessary war.

ART NEWS | READ ALSO: Art Lovers Celebrate Ukrainian Culture at the Saatchi Gallery, London

Reading books, watching movies, and television have shown me how powerful art can be. Several years ago, I was brought to tears after watching Amistad directed by Steven Spielberg. I could not imagine how much pain and suffering the slaves went through in the hands of their so called masters. That is the power or art.

The power of art is one of the reasons the World Art Day celebrations are important. Watching historical movies, reading books and going to exhibitions have shaped my thinking, and I continue to be more observant of how art is used to generate positive and negative emotions.

    3. How has art touched my life? I am a hard working person and I get stressed out most of the time. Whenever I am feeling stressed, I either watch television or read a good book. Reading and going to the movies often help me calm down. Photography has also been helpful. I feel better after looking at photography books or going to an exhibition. Strolling through a gallery and looking at paintings hanging on the walls also make me feel better. But I think a lot still has to be done to promote the World Art Day celebrations. Unlike Mothers Day celebrations and other important celebrations that are very popular, World Art Day celebrations are not well-known, It is like the celebrations are reserved for only those in the arts. Everything must be done to promote the World Art Day celebrations so everyone can be part of it.

    4. I never liked art. Like many people, art for me was just something to admire and that is it. However, all that changed several years ago after I saw an exhibition of photography in New York. It was an exhibition of photographs by a South African photographer who documented the lives of black South Africans during apartheid and post -Apartheid era. I think his name is Zwelethu Mthethwa.

I was first attracted by the beauty of the very large photographs before realizing what I was looking at. The poverty and derelict living condition of the people made me wonder why anyone should be subjected to such inhuman conditions just because of the color of their skin. I was overtaken by the sublimity and power of the images before me. I soon realized that I had succumbed to the power of art.

Since experiencing the photographs by the South African photographer, I have been investigating the power of photography and its ability to document history. I have studied photographs taken during war times and even those capturing disasters around the globe. Some of them are very gruesome but informative. Of course, there are beautiful photos like those in National Geographic.

My engagement with photography has opened new horizons for me. I now know that photography and art, in general, can touch anyone. I what I will like to see during the World Art Day celebrations are provocative exhibitions in galleries and museums. The works, especially photographs, should make us think and reflect on important issues.

    5. When I saw your question “How has art touched your life?” I was really excited. Many people appreciate art just because of the beauty. But art is more than beauty! Art has the ability to change people’s lives. Every time people talk about Steve Jobs they forget to mention that he was an artist. He studied calligraphy for a while and that art background influenced many of his creations in later years. From Apple computers to iPhone and iPad, Jobs ensured that design was optimal for all his products. And that is how I have been touched by art. By using iPhone, iPad and even driving my car, I know I am having an interaction with art. Art is a part of everyday life and it is impossible not to be touched by art.

Beyond art, I think important technologies that have artistic inclination should be part of the World Art Day celebrations. Can you Imagine a show in a museum or art gallery presenting Steve Jobs’s creation as works of art? That will be exciting.

    6. Art is everywhere. It is difficult to escape art in our modern society. From the cars we drive to the food we eat and what we wear, art is everywhere. I love art and I go to art gallery shows and museum exhibition to see art. Many of what I see continue to influence my life. The billboards around me have become captivating to me now. The large photos of food, cars and many other products have become some form of street art. They evoke emotions and force people to buy things or do things they may be reluctant to do.

    7. For me, art has touched my life in many ways. Just listening to music playing the piano, watching a movie or just reading a nice book makes me feel on top of the world. I think all these areas should be part of the World Art Day celebrations.

8 .I see art in everything. Wherever I go, I see art. I see colors, hear music and see fashion. By observing everything around me, I have been able to learn about many things, which continue to inform my work as a painter. My paintings are influenced by the things I see around me. Fine art, music, film, photography, poetry, and other forms of writing have also helped me develop a better sense of human behavior and how I relate to others.

    9. Art has touched my life because it helps me help others to express themselves. As an art therapist, art has become a means to help people with disabilities or related issues to effectively express and communicate their thoughts and ideas. I am always happy to see people who cannot ordinarily verbally express themselves use art to communicate their thoughts.

Thank you for the opportunity to celebrate World Art Day with you and also join in this art discussion. Art is a great phenomenon and everyone has been touched one way or the other. Art is everywhere and part of our lives. When we read books, watch movies or performances, we are participating in art. All the things we experience through these activities affect us one way or the other. As a therapist, I look forward to the day when art therapy will be the focus of the World Art Celebrations.

    10. Nature is art. There are so many things in nature that I consider art. The beautiful flowers, the colorful skies and people we meet have taught me how to appreciate God’s mighty canvas and the beauty of his creations. What I think should be part of this year’s World Art Celebrations is a tour of sculpture gardens. Sculpture gardens not only have art, they also bring us closer to nature.

As we celebrate this World Art Day, let us remember that today is also Leonardo Da Vinci’s birthday. Da Vinci epitomizes the role of artists in the society and how art can impact people’s lives. Da Vinci was not just an artists, he was also an engineer, scientist, architect and many other things. Da Vinci’s approach to art and many of his creations show how art is part of everything we do.

World Art Day celebrations should be made popular so many people can understand the importance of art. Art has made a great impact in my life. When I read a book, participate in a performance, eat different kinds of food, I am been impacted by art. Whether consciously or unconsciously, my thinking and the way I do things are been influenced by my relationship with art.

    WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

True Love Stays the Same After 20 years of marriage as Lilibeth Datu and Dennis Datu renewed their vows and celebrated their relationship

BALTIMORE — After 20 years of marriage, Lilibeth Datu and Dennis Datu recently renewed their vows.  It was pleasant to see the couple as they walked down the aisle, again. For them, true love has kept them together.  Dressed in a beautiful sleeveless wedding gown, the bride was radiate all the way. Beside her was her husband dressed in a black suit.  In his black suit accentuated by an immaculate white shirt and bow tie, the vivacious groom was no push over. He looked handsome and boisterous.

Wedding photographers had a filled day, taking pictures of the beautiful couple.

The wedding planners did not leave anything to chance in the effort to capture the meaning of true love. The Mariner, venue of the ceremony, was beautifully decorated with flowers and ribbons. Surrounding the couple as they walked down the aisle to the altar, were green and white flowers. It was like true love blooming all over again. The beautiful flowers were carefully selected to match the green theme of the ceremony and wedding colors.  At the center of the wedding flowers at the altar was a bible. The bible was a reminder of the couple’s devotion to God. But more importantly, that God has been good and faithfully.

After taking their wedding vows, the couple exchanged wedding rings, again. Looking into each other’s eyes, they celebrated their true love. Although the couple has been married for 20 years, the renewal marked another beginning. They shed tears of joy as they professed their love for each other.  Lilibeth and Dennis asked for wedding favors from God, even as the pastor of the ceremony prayed for both of them, asking for God’s guidance in this new beginning of their marriage.

A wedding reception was held soon after the ceremony. The hall was filled with an assortment of food.  The icing on the cake was the roasted pig.  Guests ate, drank and danced. Not to be out done, the couple took to the floor and did better than everyone on the dance floor. Guests watched as the couple did the Knag Jun style. There was Clapping and cheering.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND- The winner of the 2nd Prize in this year’s Artcentron Flowers We Love Photo Contest is La Keysha Edwards.  A designer, who works with silk flowers, La Keysha is also a photography enthusiast.  As a photography lover, Keysha, as she is fondly called, loves taking pictures of things and people around her.  While some of her images have inspired new designs, others have served as reminders of important events in her life.

Although a photography enthusiast, Keysha never entered for any photo contest. However, when she saw the Artcentron Flowers We love Photo Contest, she was convinced it was time to participate in a photo contest.  Her love of flowers was the main reason for entering the photo contest. Held annually, the Artcentron Flowers We love Photo Contest is open to amateur and professional photographers who love flowers and nature.

How does Keysha feel about winning the 2nd Prize in the Artcentron Flowers We love Photo Contest 2016?  Here is Keysha in her own words:

“My name is Keysha and I love flowers. They are so beautiful and fragrant that I make every effort to preserve them. I usually work with silk flowers for my business, Keysha Kreations.  However, when I saw the Artcentron Flowers We Love Photo Contest, I just knew I must enter. Although I had never entered a photo contest before, I was very excited about this one. Maybe it was because it had to do with flowers and nature.

“One sunny afternoon, I decided to go to the local park here in Baltimore.   I went to The Howard Rawlings Conservatory & Botanic Gardens of Maryland located at Druid Hill Pack. Little did I know that the beauty I encountered at this historic conservatory and botanical garden will inspire a winning image. It took no time to spot the beautiful, ornamental peppers that won me the 2nd Prize in the Artcentron Flowers We Love Photo Contest.

I was ecstatic when I got the news that I won the 2nd Prize. As a photography lover, it was a thing of joy to have won in a competition that included professional photographers.  Winning the prize is now a major source of inspiration for me, and I am already preparing for next year’s contest. Next year, I hope to enter the contest again with an even more exquisite bloom.”

We are excited to celebrate the winners of the 2013 Artcentron annual ‘Flowers We Love’ photo contest. Again, thank you to everyone for the overwhelming response, and sharing their love of flowers and the environment.  We had a great time looking through all the entries of photos of flowers you love.  Many of the entries were photos of flowers you saw at flower shows, flower shops, flower banquets, botanical gardens, weddings and fresh flowers from the street corners. Several of the photos of flower arrangements and wedding flowers were amazing, too. They reminded us of Mother’s Day Flowers and flower gifts.

“We were amazed by the number of entries we received. They come from amateur and professional photographers from across the globe. Although 2013 was the first year of hosting the contest, we got more entries than we expected. It is our hope that 2015 will be an even greater year,” said Kazad, coordinator of the photography contest.
