PARIS — Ubisoft has acquired Ketchapp, the publisher of free-to-play games for mobile and tablets. With this move, Ketchapp has become part of Ubisoft’s international network of studios, making it the fourth biggest mobile game publisher in terms of downloads.

Industry watchers describe Ubisoft’s procurement of Ketchapp as a strategic move.  In addition to expanding the company’s footprint in digital and mobile gaming, there is also the opportunity for an increase in mobile advertising. “This acquisition gives Ubisoft one of the world’s leading mobile game publishers and reinforces our advertising capabilities in mobile gaming,” notes Jean-Michel Detoc, executive director of Ubisoft’s mobile business.

Since its creation in 2014, Ketchapp has consistently produced free mobile games that have intrigue players. Some of the games include ZigZag, Stack, Stick Hero, Twist, and Jelly Jump.  In three years, Ketchapp’s mobile games have been downloaded nearly 700 million times, an average of more than 23 million downloads per month.

What has sustained Ketchapp in the competitive mobile game industry is its commitment to creating fun and accessible gameplay experiences. Additionally, the fostering of an animation of a collective community of millions of players has helped the company grow. Above all else, the company’s expertise in mobile advertising and cross-promotion has given it greater recognition in the mobile game world.

The future prospect of this new acquisition is generating a lot of excitement at Ubisoft.  “With Ketchapp, Ubisoft acquires a highly profitable publisher with a successful portfolio of free-to-play games for mobile,” declared Jean-Michel Detoc.

However, the excitement is not just at Ubisoft. At Ketchapp, they are looking forward to the future with glee. “We are thrilled to become part of Ubisoft’s international network of talented teams,” said Antoine and Michel Morcos, managing directors and co-founders of Ketchapp.  They added: “We founded Ketchapp with the intention of creating captivating gaming experiences, and we are looking forward to leveraging Ubisoft’s creativity and resources to enrich our existing and upcoming titles.”
