ART AUCTION: Banksy Art Highlights Julien’s Auctions and Artsy Street Art Now Sale

NEW YORK, NY– Thirty-five art works by prominent street artists will go on sale Friday in an auction aptly titled Street Art Now.  A collaboration between Julien’s Auctions and Artsy, the online-only action  will happen on Artsy website. Street art collectors can also use  the Artsy iPhone and iPad apps to bid on the  art works on sale.

A major highlight of this auction is Morons 2007, by Banksy. The limited edition signed silkscreen acquired directly from the artist, accompanied by Pest Control is estimated at $20,000-$25,000.  Shepard Fairey’s M16 VS AK 47 (2006), is also expected to attract collectors from across the globe. The HPM silkscreen and mixed media collage signed and dated by the artist is estimated at $16,000-$18,000. Billy Idol (2008), also by Shepard Fairey is expected to soar beyond its estimated value of $6,000-$8,000. The HPM print  is signed by both Idol and Fairey and numbered.

Also expected to feature prominently in the Street Art Now Auction is Sonia (2010) by RETNA.  It is estimated at $6,000-$8,000. Going Everywhere Fast (2014), by D*Face is one of the art works in this showcase of  street artists that collectors will love. The artist proof mixed media print on Birchwood is estimated at $3,000-$5,000.

Spin Skull, an acrylic painting on paper by British artist Damien Hirst will add to the excitement the street art auction is already generating. Estimated at $3,000-$5,000, it is expected to put collectors at the edge of their seats when bidding begins.

All You Need is Love (2010), by French artist Mr. Brainwash aka Thierry Guetaa, is expected to be a major attraction for collectors. The hand embellished silkscreen signed lithograph is estimated at $800-$1,200. A to Z, an aerosol on canvas by Ben Eine (American b. 1970) is estimated at  $15,000-$20,000

Takashi Murakami’s And Then When That’s Done (2009), is one of the rare works by the artists to come to the auction. The signed lithograph is  estimated at $800-$1,200.

The online-only sale is the first of its kind by Julien’s Auctions. The auction which is a collaboration with Artsy is expected to attract emerging and established collectors from across the globe. There is great expectation that Street Art Now auction will mark an important moment in street art sale history.  With Julien’s Auctions promotion of the event and backed by data-driven guidance from Artsy, the Street Art Now is expected to be a great success.
