ENTERTAINMENT: Movie theaters treat Star Wars Fans with Movie Poster, Art and Rewards

The release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer Monday continues to generate a lot of excitement across the globe. The trailer, which is  absolutely captivating, provides snippets into what Star Wars fans should expect when the movie is released in December. Alongside the trailer, however, are beautiful movie posters and prints that can be classified as art in their own right.

The  launch of the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer and movie poster is a continuation of the marketing strategy to generate attention for the movie that started during an all star event during this year’s Comic-Con. The Comic-Con event brought together Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, one of the major character in the Star Wars series.

The official Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie posters is mimetic of the Classical movie posters of this celebrated series. Following in the well-known Star Wars tradition, the movie poster features prominently new characters alongside some familiar characteristics. Perhaps the most district feature of this new Star Wars movie poster is the  inclusion of  Rey played by Daisy Ridley. In his hand is a unique style  lightsaber which he wields tenaciously. Also on the poster is Finn played by John Boyega.

Looming in the background is the evil Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver.  Also prominently featured on the new movie poster are returning Star Wars characters, including Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia.

As anticipation grows for the movie, nothing is been left to chance to generate awareness and bring fans to the theater.  Cinemas and movie theaters across the country are going beyond captivating movie poster to generate audience. They  are creating new incentives and reward program to excite even more  Star Wars fans. The Regal Cinema, for instance, has created what it calls Star Wars Saturday: Each Saturday. The event which runs from December 19 through January 9 rewards the first 500 people to experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX.  Winners will receive  collectable tickets featuring unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens art. The first in the series of tickets features BB-8. The beautiful movie poster -like ticket captures BB-8, a mystical droid  machine filled  with speed and power.  New art will be revealed for the duration of the event.

Regal Cinema is not alone in the quest to draw audience to the Star Wars event. AMC is also doing everything to attract more audience to the theatre.  Besides introducing exciting new movie poster print, AMC  has also initiated a reward program  for guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX 3D. The rewards runs from December 20 through January 10. It is called Star Wars Saturday: Each Saturday. The reward is an AMC – exclusive Star Wars print from the artist Dan Mumford.

The AMC Theaters Star Wars movie print combines dramatic effect with surrealism to create a theatrical movie poster.  Mimetic of a grave yard, the   ruined  atmosphere brings to the fore  a substantial element of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.

At the edge of the movie poster is Rey (Daisy Ridley) with BB-8 looking at the ruins of a battle scene. The poster print depicts what looks like the  after effects of a war or a battle. In front of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and BB-8 are crashed TIE and X-wing fighters. The  poster elevates the suspense about the movie, forcing the questing: What happened here? Star Wars fans will discover the answer to this question and many other will when the movie premieres in December.

To keep the reward program fresh, a new movie poster print will be revealed every week. In addition to the reward put in place, there is also a celebration slated for the opening of the movie. Walt Disney World and AMC Theaters will be celebrating the release of Star Wars: The  Force Awakens  with an Opening Night Event to be held on December 17.  Participants will be among  the first people to  see the new film at AMC Disney Springs 24. There also be a private after-hours party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

As its incentive to attract more audience, Cinemark will be giving fans the opportunity to win a pair of exclusive RealD 3D Star Wars glasses. Star Wars fans can win the collectable glasses in three ways. One is by attending the  Star Wars Marathon event  on December 17. The other is by attending the first show of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Thursday 12/17 in Cinemark XD.  The third way to win the collectable glasses is to purchase a Star Wars Concession combos  to be released in November.

As part of it advance ticketing promotion, Alamo Drafthouse will offer two exclusive , limited edition Star Wars: The Force  Awakens collectable items  which,  includes  an officially licensed Mando-design pint glass. The company will also offer its first  ever magazine Birth. Movies. Death. The magazine celebrates  40 years of the Star Wars movie saga.

Other movie  theaters offering incentives include El Capitan theater that has promised a new way of experiencing the new movie. Using  a-state- of – the – art laser projection system that renders richer color and distinctly brighter images as well as preserves deep and dark black, the El Capitan theatre  is determined to fulfill the Star Wars fans ultimate experience.  With DOLBY ATMOS sound technology, the encounter is expected to inspire and excite fans,  stirring ’emotions with breath taking realism’ the company notes.  The movie company will also offer fans  opportunity to pick up exclusive collectable BB- 8 buttons on the opening day one.

Fandango is also doing everything to get a bite of the cake. All those that buy the Star Wars: The Force Awakens from Fandango will be entered into sweepstakes for an opportunity  for the chance to win a trip to the film’s   premiere. Ten runner-up will also be selected to win collectable Dark Side or Light Side prizes.

The trailer, movie posters, and rewards programs organized by movie theaters and ticketing websites and companies have added to the excitement of the Star Wars: The Force  Awakens. There is no doubt that when the  new movie hits theater in December, fans will get their money’s worth.
