When Christie’s announced Monday that one of the designer handbags put on sale at its second Handbags and Accessories auction sold for $222,912, many people could not believe it. The bag, a shiny Fuchsia Porosus Crocodile Diamond Birkin 35 with 18K White Gold & Diamond Hardware, Hermès, 2014 was estimated at HK$ 1,000,000-1,500,000. It was one of the major highlights of the auction.

For many people, $222,912 is a lot of money to pay for a designer bag. For collectors of exceptional designer bags, however, no cost should be spared in the quest to get the best stylish handbags that money can buy. It is evidently for this reason that many collectors of fashionable handbags competed vigorously to acquire some of the ladies handbags put on sale at the auction. In the end, Christie’s achieved $5,985,495.

By all standards, the designer handbags presented at the Christie’s sale are not cheap at all. These designer ladies handbags are worth as much as an average home in the United States if not more. Zillow, the leading real estate, and rental marketplace put the price of a typical home in the United States at $170,000. Some the handbags featured at Christie’s second Handbags & Accessories auction in Hong Kong cost as much $100,000.  A great example is a Shiny Bleu Brighton Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 30 with Palladium Hardware, Hermès, 2010 handbag that sold for $100,440.

There are several reasons these handbags worth so much. They are shiny, beautiful and exceptional in the true sense of the world. These ladies handbags will attract attention any day, and make any woman carrying one of them the center of the world.

The amazing designs of the handbags are accentuated by expensive gems. Although many of the precious ornaments on the bags are not so conspicuous, they, however, bring class to the designer bags.  The charms including diamonds and white gold put the handbags in a class by themselves.

Here are some of the beautiful designer handbags put on sale at the Christie’s.  Some of them are worth as much as an average home in the United States.
