LOS ANGELES, CA –Saatchi Art has announced this year’s New Sensations Prize. The art prize was launched in 2007 by Rebecca Wilson, chief curator of online art gallery Saatchi Art. The New Sensations Prize is widely regarded as the most important annual prize for emerging artists in the UK.

The main objective of New Sensations is to expose young creative minds in the United Kingdom. According to Saatchi Art, “New Sensations supports the most imaginative and talented young artists in the UK and presents their work to an international audience each year during Frieze Week.”

This is the 8th edition of the prize. A major change this year is that Saatchi Art curators will nominate art students graduating from BA and MA courses at UK and Republic of Ireland colleges and universities. The long list of nominated artists will be announced in August. The shortlisted artists, chosen by a panel of judges, will follow in September. In October, the shortlisted artists will show their work in the New Sensations exhibition. The icing on the cake, however, is the award ceremony. The New Sensations 2014 winner will get a cash prize to fund a studio for a year.
