ART FAIR: At Expo Chicago 2014, Premier Galleries Prepare to Show  their Best Artworks

CHICAGO —The list of premier galleries that will be exhibiting at this year’s Expo Chicago, The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art, has been announced. The list includes 137 leading galleries representing 17 countries and 42 cities from around the world. Some of the participating countries include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.  The expo will be held September 18 – 21, 2014 at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall (600 E. Grand Ave).

Announcing the list, President and Director Tony Karman, who has successfully organized the event for the past two years, said that “We are very proud to announce this exceptional list of exhibitors that have been selected to represent our third edition.” According to him, this year’s event is very important because of the special events that have been planned. “This is a very important year for us, and this list, coupled with the extraordinary exhibition alignments and events that are coinciding with Expo Chicago, makes Chicago the place to be this September. From the ‘David Bowie Is…’ Gala and exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, to the Sarah Charlesworth and Magritte exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago; from the free Riccardo Muti concert in Millennium Park to the newly established ‘Art After Hours,’ showcasing our city’s art galleries, the city is galvanized around Expo Chicago to welcome the world,” he said.

Galleries participating in this year’s event were chosen by the 2014 selection committee comprised of Isabella Bortolozzi, Isabella Bortolozzi Galerie, Berlin; Chris D’Amelio, David Zwirner , London, New York; Rhona Hoffman, Rhona Hoffman Gallery , Chicago; Anthony Meier, Anthony Meier Fine Arts , San Francisco; David Nolan, David Nolan Gallery , New York; and Marc Selwyn, Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Beverly Hills; in addition to Candice Madey, On Stellar Rays , New York and Jessica Silverman, Jessica Silverman Gallery, San Francisco, who make up the Exposure selection committee. ‘These galleries,” Karman notes “present the best in contemporary and modern art.”
